This past year, I did this art project with a bunch of fantastic kids. It was a lot of fun. Everyone enjoyed it very much so. It was all about their names. I like to do an occasional name art project, but I especially liked this one. While it includes their name, it is more than that: there is symmetry and some serious stretching of the imagination!

To do this project we used regular broad line markers and 12 by 18 inch paper.

Fun Name Art Step by Step
First, fold the paper in half and then write the name on the fold.
Open the paper and copy the name on the second half symmetrically.
Now flip the page to be upright, and turn each letter into an animal or creature. Use your imagination and have a great time.
Finally, I let the kids color in their creatures in all the marker colors other than black. I saved black for last, to do details and outlines.
